It is our belief that a good anti hair loss formulation should contain ingredients that stimulate hair growth (E.g. Redensyl, Adenosine etc) as well as ingredients that block DHT, the root cause of hair thinning (E.g. Saw Palmetto Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract etc). Many of the existing hair care products in the market either have hair growth stimulating ingredients but no DHT Blockers or have hair growth stimulating ingredients but no DHT Blockers. At the same time, other possible hair loss reasons can also be due to ageing (E.g. Adenosine, Coenzyme Q10 etc), nutrient deficiency (E.g. Biotin) or scalp redness (E.g. Ecklonia Cava Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract etc), which REGENSIFY anti-hair loss products do address as well. Both Adenosine and Coenzyme Q10 are naturally occurring chemicals found in our body reputed to have anti-aging properties and responsible for the synthesis of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), the primary carrier of energy in cells.
Yes, DHT Blocker is also applicable to be helpful for ladies as well. men has high testosterone and low estrogen levels while women has low testosterone and high estrogen levels. The estrogen is the key hormone that explains why ladies have much longer hair than men. DHT, also known as dihydrotestosterone, is formed when the five alpha reductase enzymes in our body converts testosterone into DHT and DHT is the main hormone for causing hair miniaturisation. So, to conclude, ladies also have some levels of DHT but in general at a much lower levels than men. However, during menopause, hormone imbalance of testosterone and estrogen levels can cause ladies to have hair loss.
Saw Palmetto and Ecklonia Cava are the two best natural DHT Blocker In addition, there is a Korean clinical study done to show that topical Ecklonia Cava offers good scalp protection by increasing hydration and decrease redness.
Redensyl targets and stimulates the bulge stem cells and derma papilla cells. Adenosine works differently from Redensyl by stimulating the fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2) and fibroblast growth factor-7 (FGF7) of the derma papilla cells.
There are numerous clinical studies done (1st study: 38 caucasians, 2nd study: 102 Japanese men, 3rd study: 30 Japanese women) on topical adenosine. The two clinical studies done on 38 caucasions and 102 Japanese men showed that topical adenosine is effective in thicking the hair after 6 months of use. The 3rd clinical study done on 30 Japanese women for 12 months also showed that Adenosine is effective in increasing anagen hair growth and thick hairs. There was also a study of 110 male patients with Norwood II-IV splitted into two groups of 5% Minoxidil and 0.75% Adenosine. The study revealed that 0.75% Adenosine had comparable treatment effects to 5% Minoxidil and patient satisfaction was higher in the Adenosine group compared to the Minoxidil group. Hence, Adenosine is a good proven hair stimulant alternative to Minoxidil.
Adenosine boosts the ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production of the hair follicles while Coenzyme Q10 faciliates ATP production. Combining Adenosine with CoQ10 create synergistic effects. There is also a clinical study done on CoQ10 that CoQ10 is an ideal ingredient for hair care formulations, providing anti-aging properties. We also have a blog post with a more detailed write up on Adenosine, which you can read here.
Centella Asiatica Extract, known for its superior healing properties, also nourishes and moisturises the scalp while strengthening the hair follicles. There is also a study done to show that Centella Asiatica is effective in increasing the hair strength during a pull test and decreasing hair loss. Centella Asiatica also protects hair from damage caused by pollution, heat, and UV rays.
